Ren Yin Day Pillar: Eating God, Wealth and Seven Killings

一 What it is

What the Ren Yin Day Pillar Means

The Ren Yin Day Pillar is a day pillar whose top stem is Ren Yang Water sitting on the Yin branch, a combination that places an Eating God, Indirect Wealth, and Seven Killings inside the day branch itself. A simple analogy: think of a fast river flowing over a wooded hillside — the water feeds the trees (Output), wood feeds a small fire (Wealth), and the steep bank keeps the river in check (Officer). What distinguishes this pillar is that Yin hides Jia Eating God at weight 1, Bing Indirect Wealth at weight .5, and Wu Seven Killings at weight .3, yet contains no hidden Water root and no Metal Resource. Ren therefore produces Wood as its Output, sees Fire as Wealth, Earth as the Officer category, and Metal as Resource — none of which is a Water root. Hidden Ren would be a same-stem root; hidden Gui would be same-element but not same-stem. Visible peers such as a stem Ren on another pillar are not themselves hidden roots. At the day position, Ren's own phase is Sickness, and the pillar-stem phase matches because the reference stem is identical there; this is symbolic phase language, not a medical or life-event prediction. The fixed 1/.5/.3 weights are the calculator's bookkeeping values, not seasonal strength scores, and a hidden stem keeps its own polarity even when the branch polarity differs.

二 Where to find it in your chart

Where to Read This in Your Chart

Open your Four Pillars grid and find the Day column. The top character is the Day Master stem; here it is 壬 Ren. The bottom character is the branch; here it is 寅 Yin. Small characters beside the branch are the hidden stems: 甲 Jia, 丙 Bing and 戊 Wu. The grid does not print hidden Ten God labels or a dedicated growth-phase row, so read those from the article tables and full overview.

To confirm your own Ren Yin day, enter your birth data and calculate your chart. Compare the Day stem and branch directly. If the hour is unknown, treat the Hour column as unconfirmed. Near a day boundary, use an accurate birthplace and birth time rather than assuming a universal rollover rule.

Element balance totals are weighted bookkeeping values, not a phase or strength verdict. The Day Master is the stem only; the day pillar includes both stem and branch. Read every position from the chart facts, then identify which pillars actually change between example A and example B.

Read the Day column: top character = Day Master; top + bottom characters = day pillar. Keep the full four-column chart for context.

三 How to read it

How to Read the Ren Yin Day Pillar

Start with the layer of the cycle index. Ren Yin is one entry in the sixty-pair sequence, a calendar coordinate that identifies which pillar you are reading. It carries no strength value by itself. Then read the stem: Ren, Yang Water, the Day Master and the reference point for every Ten God label. Polarity matters because it decides how each hidden stem is named. Only after the stem is fixed do you open the branch and assign the hidden stems their Ten Gods and fixed weights: Jia Eating God 1, Bing Indirect Wealth .5, Wu Seven Killings .3. Those weights are the calculator's bookkeeping values, not seasonal strength scores.

Next, separate roots from Resource. Ren needs hidden Water — Ren or Gui — to be rooted. Yin contains neither, so this pillar gives no root. Hidden Ren would be a same-stem root; hidden Gui would be same-element but not same-stem. Metal is Resource, and Yin holds no Geng or Xin. Earth is the Officer category, never Resource and never a Water root, so Wu stays Seven Killings. Visible peers elsewhere are not themselves hidden roots; read them from their own positions. A hidden stem's polarity remains its own even when the branch polarity differs.

Then read phase. Ren's growth phases run forward, so Yin lands on Sickness, a brief symbolic stage name rather than a biological or life-event prediction. The Day Master phase and the own-pillar-stem phase match at the day position because the reference stem is identical there. Other positions carry their own phases from the same forward sequence. Read the Yin Tiger Earthly Branch as the branch layer, then place its phase beside the hidden Ten Gods rather than replacing them.

Finally, complete the chart. Compare A and B: both share the Ren Yin day pillar, the Yi Hurting Officer hour stem, and the Si hour branch. A adds Xin stems over Wei and Chou, bringing Direct Resource plus a hidden Gui Rob Wealth root. B replaces those with Ren over Wu and Ding over Wei, adding a visible Friend and Direct Wealth while thinning Metal. Identify which pillars actually change before drawing contrasts, and read every position from its own facts. The two tables below record the day-branch hidden stems and the day pillar's cycle index and phase. Use those tables to verify these layers before comparing the charts.

To place this pair within the sexagenary cycle, use the ordered table in the sixty Jia Zi cycle; its number identifies a position, not a rank.

甲 Eating God 1
丙 Indirect Wealth 0.5
戊 Seven Killings 0.3

壬寅 39 病 Sickness

四 When the reading changes

Chart A: Xin Wei and Xin Chou Above a Single Hidden Root

Chart A places Direct Resource in both the year and month stems, Xin over Wei and Xin over Chou. Neither Wei nor Chou holds Water except Chou's Gui Rob Wealth at weight .5, and that hidden Gui is the only root Ren has in the four branches. The visible Xin stems produce Water, yet a visible Resource stem is not itself a hidden root, so the day master's footing rests on Chou alone. Yin, the day branch, holds Jia Eating God at 1, Bing Indirect Wealth at .5, and Wu Seven Killings at .3, with no Water and no Metal inside. Seasonally this reads as a cooler, Resource-leaning field where output has something to draw on. Relationship reading limits follow from that single root: with only Chou's Gui beneath the surface, any reading of partnerships stays tied to how much stored support the chart actually shows. Career reflection likewise begins with the Resource stems and the Chou root, since the Eating God and Wealth in Yin depend on that base rather than on the day seat itself.

Chart B: Ren Wu and Ding Wei Replacing the Resource Pillars

Chart B swaps the two Xin pillars for Ren Wu and Ding Wei. The year stem Ren is a Friend, a visible peer, and a visible peer is not a hidden root; Wu hides Ding Direct Wealth and Ji Direct Officer, no Water. Wei hides Ji Direct Officer, Ding Direct Wealth, and Yi Hurting Officer, again no Water. So the only Water in the chart is the day master plus the visible Ren Friend, and Metal Resource falls to 0.5. Ren still sits on Yin with the same Jia, Bing, and Wu hidden stems, and the day phase remains Sickness. What shifts is the surrounding field: Wealth and Officer categories dominate the branches while Resource nearly disappears. The missing hidden Water root is a structural difference, not evidence of worse partnerships. Relationship discussion still needs the complete chart and real-life context. Career reflection should stay with the placements: the Eating God in Yin now feeds a hotter, Wealth-heavy environment instead of a Resource-supported one.

Yin's Hidden Chain in Both Charts

Yin is constant across A and B, and its three hidden stems carry fixed bookkeeping weights: Jia Eating God 1, Bing Indirect Wealth .5, Wu Seven Killings .3. These are calculator values, not seasonal strength scores, and each hidden stem keeps its own polarity regardless of the branch's polarity. The teaching sequence runs Water produces Wood, Wood produces Fire, Fire produces Earth, so Ren feeds Jia, Jia feeds Bing, and Bing feeds Wu. Earth is the Officer category and never Resource or a Water root; Metal is the only Resource. In chart A the Chou Gui root lets this chain operate from a stored base, while in chart B the same chain runs with almost no Metal and no hidden Water. The day master phase and the pillar stem phase match at the day position because the reference stem is identical there, which is why both show Sickness.

Forward Phases Around the Same Day Pillar

Ren is a yang stem, so its growth phases run forward through the twelve stations, and the day pillar's own phase is Sickness in both charts. The surrounding pillars differ: chart A shows Gestation at the year, Decline at the month, and Extinction at the hour; chart B shows Conception at the year, Gestation at the month, and Extinction at the hour. These labels describe where each branch falls in Ren's forward sequence, nothing more. A useful contrast is that chart A's Decline month coincides with the Chou hidden Gui root, while chart B's Gestation month coincides with Ding Wealth and no Water root. Neither combination predicts events, income, or health. For a practical walkthrough of the sequence, see how to use the 12 growth phases. Keep the reading at the level of placement and category, and the phase names stay descriptive rather than determinative.

Weighted element totals: Wood 2.3, Fire 2, Earth 2.6, Metal 2.8, Water 1.5.

Chart A places Ren Yang Water on Yin at the day pillar. The branch hides Jia Eating God at 1, Bing Indirect Wealth at .5 and Wu Seven Killings at .3. These are the calculator's fixed bookkeeping weights, not seasonal strength scores. Jia is Yang Wood, Bing is Yang Fire and Wu is Yang Earth; each hidden stem keeps its own polarity even though Yin is a yang branch. The day pillar therefore shows output, wealth and officer material beneath Ren, not hidden Water or hidden Metal.

Ren needs hidden Water, Ren or Gui, for roots. Yin supplies none. Metal is Resource, and Yin supplies none either. Earth is the Officer category, never Resource and never a Water root, so Wu Seven Killings cannot feed the Day Master. The phase at this position is Sickness, a symbolic stage name only, never a medical prediction. Because the reference stem at the day position is identical to the Day Master, the Day Master phase and own-pillar-stem phase match there.

Two contrasts help. First, A's month branch Chou hides Gui Rob Wealth at .5. Gui is same-element Water, so it supplies a same-element Water root, though not a same-stem root; hidden Ren would be the same-stem root. Second, A's year and month stems are both Xin Direct Resource, and Chou also hides Xin at .3. Metal is Resource for Ren, so these placements belong to the resource category, not to Water rooting. A visible peer would not itself be a hidden root, and no visible peer appears in A's upper pillars.

Chart B — 壬午 / 丁未 / 壬寅 / 乙巳

庚 Indirect Resource (0.5)
戊 Seven Killings (0.3)

Own pillar stem phase 胎 Conception 冠带 Youth 病 Sickness 沐浴 Bath

Weighted element totals: Wood 2.3, Fire 4, Earth 2.1, Metal 0.5, Water 2.

Chart B runs Ren Wu in the year, Ding Wei in the month, Ren Yin in the day, and Yi Si in the hour. The day pillar itself is unchanged: Ren Yang Water above Yin Wood, hiding Jia Eating God (1), Bing Indirect Wealth (.5), and Wu Seven Killings (.3). No hidden Water root and no Metal Resource sit inside Yin, so the branch gives Ren no direct support. Ren at Yin is Sickness phase, and the Day Master phase matches the own-pillar-stem phase at the day position because the reference stem is identical there. Sickness is phase symbolism, not a medical prediction.

Compared with chart A, only the year and month pillars change. A's Xin Wei becomes Ren Wu, and A's Xin Chou becomes Ding Wei. The day and hour pillars stay Ren Yin and Yi Si in both charts. In B, the year stem is Ren Friend, a visible peer, while Wu hides Ding Direct Wealth and Ji Direct Officer. Wei hides Ji Direct Officer, Ding Direct Wealth, and Yi Hurting Officer. Metal Resource falls to 0.5, so the two Xin Direct Resource stems that supported Ren in A are gone, while Fire Wealth rises to 4.

Ren needs hidden Water (Ren or Gui) for roots. Hidden Ren is a same-stem root; hidden Gui is same-element, not same-stem. Visible peers are not themselves hidden roots. Metal is Resource; Earth is the Officer category, never Resource or a Water root. The 1/.5/.3 weights are bookkeeping values, not seasonal strength scores.

To check your own chart, open the Four Pillars grid and read the Day column first: top stem, bottom branch, then the small hidden-stem characters. Compare each surrounding pillar against those day facts, and note whether any hidden Ren or Gui appears. For a related comparison, see the Geng Yin Day Pillar.

六 What the counts mean

The ordered cycle contains 60 distinct pairs. Each stem appears in six of them. A specific day pillar occupies one of those 60 positions. These counts describe the cycle, not a measured population distribution or a probability of any life outcome.

Calculate your chart and compare the Day column, hidden stems and the other pillars.
